Description

Sap cleaner for secateurs, shears, saws and sickles

YaniPika is a Japanese blade cleaner for removing sticky sap, pitch and resin from pruning tools. Use it on secateurs, hedge shears, saw teeth, sickles and garden knives when residue starts making the cut feel sticky or rough.

Clean blades before sharpening. Sap on the bevel masks true sharpness, clogs stones and increases friction through the cut. Once the blade is clean, dry it thoroughly and protect carbon steel with a light coat of camellia oil.

Best suited to

  • Secateurs used on roses, citrus and fruit trees
  • Hedge shears and topiary shears after sticky green growth
  • Japanese pruning saws and pull saw teeth
  • Sickles, knives and small garden blades
  • Regular maintenance before oiling or sharpening

How to use

  1. Spray onto the affected blade area.
  2. Let the foam sit briefly so it can loosen sap and resin.
  3. Wipe away residue with a cloth.
  4. Dry the tool properly.
  5. Apply camellia oil to carbon steel before storage.

Who should not buy this

  • Do not buy this as a rust remover; use a rust eraser for existing rust.
  • Do not leave it sitting on wooden handles, paper labels or painted surfaces.
  • Do not treat cleaning as a replacement for sharpening when the edge is genuinely dull.

Care expectations

Store the bottle sealed and upright, away from direct sunlight and heat. After cleaning, always dry carbon steel tools and oil them before storage.
