Can I adjust the joint if play develops?

Hedge shears and Araki loppers use a 10 mm pivot screw with a locknut. Retighten only until the blades close smoothly with light contact; overtightening causes binding and poor cuts. Add a drop of oil after adjustment.

Which tool should I choose, Masamune hedge shears, Karikomi hedge shears, or loppers?

Masamune hedge shears are the standard, all-round choice for pruning and shaping hedges (six blade lengths, 150–300 mm).
