Light rust protection oil for Japanese carbon steel tools

Camellia oil is a traditional maintenance oil used to protect carbon steel tools from rust. Apply a very thin film after cleaning and drying secateurs, knives, shears, sickles, saws and woodworking blades.

It is useful because carbon steel cuts beautifully but reacts to moisture. A few drops on a soft cloth helps protect the blade and pivot without leaving a heavy sticky coating.

How to use

  1. Clean sap, dirt or moisture from the tool first.
  2. Dry the blade completely.
  3. Add a few drops of oil to a soft cloth.
  4. Wipe a thin coat over the blade and pivot.
  5. Remove excess before storage.
