Description

Natural rust protection for Japanese tools

Camellia oil is a traditional Japanese maintenance oil used to protect carbon steel tools from rust. It leaves a thin protective film on steel, helping block moisture and oxygen without becoming sticky when applied lightly.

Use it after cleaning and drying secateurs, knives, shears, sickles and other steel tools. A few drops on a soft cloth is usually enough to coat the blade and pivot. Wipe away excess before storage so the tool does not attract grit.

Clean sap first with YaniPika Sap Cleaner, or choose the Japanese Garden Tool Maintenance Kit if you want oil, sap cleaner, sharpening and storage together. Browse the full Japanese tool care and sharpening range for carbon steel tool care.

Tip: A soft cloth with a few drops of oil works better than pouring directly on the blade.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is camellia oil food safe?

How much should I apply?

Only a few drops are needed. Wipe across the blade and joint with a soft cloth to leave a thin protective film.

Does it work on stainless steel tools?

Yes. While stainless steel is more resistant, camellia oil adds extra protection and keeps pivots smooth.
