Description

Vintage Kakuri DIY Woodworking Kit

Shipped from Perth, this authentic Kakuri set dates from Japan’s Showa period and comes complete in its original orange toolbox. Designed for the home craftsman, it includes the essential hand tools needed to tackle woodworking projects with traditional Japanese methods.

The kit features a double-edged ryoba saw for rip and cross cutting, a selection of bench chisels, a small hand plane, hammer, marking gauge, rasp/file, tape measure, and consumables. All tools are original Kakuri manufacture from Miki, Hyogo. The metal case is finished in bright orange enamel with a factory decal and carry handle. These sets were marketed as a full DIY package, and intact examples are now collectible.

As a vintage tool set, some care is required before use. Sharpen chisels and saw teeth before working, and oil all blades to prevent rust. Store in a dry place. For supplementary modern tools and accessories, see our collections of Japanese Woodworking Tools.

Tip: Collectors often retain these sets intact, but the tools are fully functional if you prefer to put them to work.
