Description

Right-handed Japanese thin sickle for clean weeding cuts

The Takemoto Kikumatsu Right-Handed Sickle 180mm is a carbon steel Japanese thin sickle for surface weeds, soft grass and light garden-bed cleanup. This page was previously listed as a Banshu weeding sickle, but the correct model is Takemoto Kikumatsu KUS-1811.

The 180mm working edge gives a little more reach than the compact left-handed 165mm version while staying easy to control around vegetable beds, garden edges and paths. The 330mm handle gives room for a secure grip and controlled pull cuts.

Who this suits

  • Right-handed gardeners who want the standard right-hand version of the Kikumatsu thin sickle.
  • Surface weeding, soft grass trimming and light garden-bed cleanup.
  • Light harvesting where a small curved garden tool gives control.
  • Garden beds and edges around vegetables, paths and tighter planting areas.

Right-handed vs left-handed version

  • Choose this 180mm right-handed model if you naturally pull the tool with your right hand.
  • Choose the 165mm left-handed model if you work with your left hand and want the opposite bevel direction.
  • For the left-handed version, see the Takemoto Kikumatsu Left-Handed Sickle 165mm.

Who should not buy this

  • Do not buy this if you want a stainless, maintenance-free garden tool.
  • Do not buy this for woody stems, roots or levering in soil; use a tougher weeding tool or pruning saw.
  • Do not buy the right-handed version if you mostly work with your left hand.
