A practical weekend project shipped from Perth, Australia. This Michi Hamono kit supplies a semi-processed Katsura kuksa blank with the inner bowl already hollowed. Use the included half-round rasp and wet-and-dry papers to shape the exterior and handle, then oil for service.


Michi Hamono prepares the blank so you focus on design and surface quality. Katsura is a fine-grained hardwood that carves cleanly and takes a smooth finish. The half-round rasp removes stock quickly on curves and flats, while #150, #240, and #400 papers refine the surface to drink-ready smoothness. No chisels are required. After shaping, wipe dust, then apply a food-safe drying oil. Re-oil as needed. Hand wash only, and avoid soaking or dishwashers.
