It is a traditional blacksmith’s oxide layer that protects the blade from minor rust and highlights its hand-forged character.

How do I sharpen it?

Lightly hone the edge using a flattening stone followed by a fine waterstone. Regular use of camellia oil will protect the metal.

Is the handle replaceable?
