Description

Complete Vintage Japanese Woodworking Set

Shipped from Perth, Australia, this Kakuri “My Home” kit is an original DIY set from Japan’s Showa era. It arrives in its red fitted case with a curated selection of hand tools for small furniture, repair, and hobby builds, offering both collectible value and real workshop use.

The set combines core Japanese tools selected for versatility. A double-edged ryoba handles rip and cross cuts. A compact kanna plane suits smoothing and fitting. Bench chisels, a marking gauge, hammer, rasp or file, and measuring tools round out the essentials, all seated in a molded tray. Tools are Kakuri manufacture from Miki, Hyogo. As with period kits, steels are high carbon tool steels appropriate to each piece, tuned for easy sharpening and a fine edge. Layout and contents match the “My Home” export series known for quality at an accessible level.

As a vintage kit, sharpen before use and oil all steel to prevent rust. Store dry and avoid prolonged humidity. For complementary modern tools and consumables, browse our Japanese Woodworking Tools.

Tip: Tune the kanna with a light back flatten and micro-bevel, then set a fine shaving for best finish on softwoods and cedar.
